Dynamic and monotonic response of Monopile Foundations for Offshore wind turbines using centrifuge testing

چکیده

Abstract The seismic response of monopile foundations is a growing area research as the offshore wind industry expands worldwide, including in earthquake prone regions world. This paper presents dynamic centrifuge tests aimed at investigating monopiles both dry and saturated sandy soils. latter case includes soil liquefaction under strong input motions, with measured excess pore pressures indicating liquefaction. natural frequency monopile-soil system experimentally determined by measuring to sine sweep motion. Strong earthquakes are then applied this its harmonics. discusses terms peak accelerations observed tests, well using spectra amplification ratios. bending moments along pile also infer moment profile depth. Finally, two identical pushed-over each establish pre post-earthquake monotonic response, lateral stiffness capacity, which compared for model case.

Soil–structure reliability of offshore wind turbine monopile foundations

An overview of offshore wind turbine (OWT) foundations is presented, focusing primarily on the monopile foundation. The uncertainty in offshore soil conditions as well as random wind and wave loading is currently treated with a deterministic design procedure, though some standards allow engineers to use a probability-based approach. Laterally loaded monopile foundations are typically designed u...

Dynamic Analysis of Offshore Wind Turbine Towers with Fixed Monopile Platform Using the Transfer Matrix Method

In this paper, an analytical method for vibrations analysis of offshore wind turbine towers with fixed monopile platform is presented. For this purpose, various and the most general models including CS, DS and AF models are used for modeling of wind turbine foundation and axial force is modeled as a variable force as well. The required equations for determination of wind turbine tower response ...

Similitude relationships for physical modelling of monopile-supported offshore wind turbines

Offshore wind turbines are considered as an important element of the future energy infrastructure. There is currently a surge in the construction of such facilities in Europe, yet there is no track record of long-term performance of these structures. Offshore wind turbines are dynamically sensitive structures because of the very nature of the structural form (tall and slender) and the different...

Soil-Structure Modeling and Design Considerations for Offshore Wind Turbine Monopile Foundations

The contribution of foundation damping to offshore wind turbines (OWTs) is not well known, though researchers have back-calculated foundation damping from “rotor-stop” tests after estimating aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, and structural damping with numerical models. Because design guidelines do not currently recommend methods for determining foundation damping, it is typically neglected. This pape...
